--Stress Management and Relaxation - Yoga is a great stress buster. Yoga practice involves learning about breathing techniques that can help regulate regulate stress.
--Builds Strength – Yoga may seem like a passive activity, but it is not. Yoga engages you physically, and in a safe manner, helping to strengthen muscles and bones.
--Improves Body Image – Yoga promotes self-awareness and acceptance, which helps teenagers overcome their poor self-esteem.
--Improved Mood And Cognitive Functioning – Regular yoga practice improves mood and changes how stress, anxiety, and fatigue are perceived. Yoga also helps improve cognitive functioning and memory, very beneficial for upcoming exams!
--Promotes Better Posture – Many yoga poses promote better posture. Teens who carry heavy backpacks often have a ‘hunched over’ posture when they sit or stand. Yoga poses help maintain an upright posture, which strengthens the spine.
--Improves Concentration – The breathing exercises in yoga improve concentration. Yoga teaches kids how to use their breath to stay focused on the task at hand.
--Physical Outlet - Yoga can benefit for kids who may not be "sporty" or active. Also, yoga can be very helpful in preventing/healing sports injuries so common in young athletes.
Suitable for ages 13-18, no prior experience necessary. Class sizes are limited so please get in touch to book.

Yoga for Seniors is suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to those looking to find their way back to yoga. All mats, props, and chairs, if needed, are provided.

YogaEd's Teen's Yoga Teacher Training is back at Phoenix Yoga Studio in February 2017! This Professional Institute 2 will be held over 2 weekends - 4-5 and 11-12 - and focuses on teens (ages 13-18).
Certified by the Yoga Alliance Professional Institute 2 , Building Blocks is designed for individuals who want to learn how to teach yoga to teens and focuses on the physical, mental and emotional benefits yoga can provide for teenagers. The program is prepared for academic environment but easily can be adapted for use in a variety of settings, including yoga studios, at home and healthcare settings.
You will study the internal and external changes in teenagers, and how changes can alter the teens yoga experience. Emphasis is placed on learning how to read and relate through understanding adolescent development, anatomy, physiology and learning domains. From this informational training, you will emerge with the ability to effectively shift teaching practices to connect with teens.
